Traditionally, environmental product data is available as standalone Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). While important, these documents can be difficult for architects and engineers to apply directly in real projects. Rockwool and Real-Time LCA have taken a different approach: building a custom library of constructions that reflects the real-world ways Rockwool insulation is used.
This means that instead of working with abstract numbers, designers can select a complete wall, roof, or floor assembly in the Real-Time LCA platform—with Rockwool materials already built in. The results are immediate:
For Rockwool, this ensures that their solutions are visible, accessible, and easy to adopt across projects of different scales.
Beyond accessibility, Rockwool sees an even greater value: data feedback on how their products are used. Through Real-Time LCA’s reporting capabilities, it becomes possible to understand which assemblies are most common, in which types of projects, and what impact they are having.
This feedback loop allows Rockwool to:
It turns product data into strategic insight - a powerful tool for a manufacturer seeking to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.
The construction industry is under growing pressure to reduce carbon emissions and improve transparency. Regulations, client demands, and climate targets all push in the same direction: sustainability must be built into every project.
Rockwool’s collaboration with Real-Time LCA demonstrates how manufacturers can rise to this challenge. By making data usable, dynamic, and connected to design decisions, Rockwool is not only supporting their clients but also contributing to a wider industry transformation.
The partnership between Rockwool Denmark and Real-Time LCA is still evolving, with ambitions to expand the library and deepen the insights generated from product usage.
By combining Rockwool’s expertise in sustainable building solutions with Real-Time LCA’s platform for real-time environmental assessment, this collaboration is setting a benchmark for how manufacturers and digital tools can work together. The shared goal is clear: to make sustainable construction practical, measurable, and scalable.
